Setiabudi Students Win Overall Champion at World Scholar’s Championship

Sekolah Menengah Setiabudi, managed by IIUM Schools, achieved strong results at the World Scholar’s Championship Kuala Lumpur Round 2026, held on 7 and 8 April 2026 at the British International School, Kuala Lumpur.
A total of 52 students from Forms 1 to 5 represented the school under the guidance of Tr. Faezah and Tr. Adelina.
The annual competition was organised by the World Scholar’s Cup committee and attended by its founder, Mr Daniel Berdichevsky. It brings together students aged seven to 18 from schools around the world.
Sekolah Menengah Setiabudi competed alongside institutions including Tunku Kurshiah College, Sekolah Seri Puteri, Kolej Yayasan Saad, British International School Kuala Lumpur, St Joseph International School and several MARA Junior Science Colleges.
The school’s senior team was named Overall Champion. The students also received awards in debating, collaborative writing, Scholar’s Bowl and Scholar’s Challenge, including champion, second-place and top-10 finishes.
Selected achievements included Champion Senior Team, Overall Champion Scholar in the Senior category, second place in debating, champion writing team, second place writing team and third place Bowl Team. The junior division also recorded a ninth-place Overall Scholar finish.
Students received at least two medals each, with some earning up to 11 medals. The results may qualify participants for the Tournament of Champions at Yale University in the United States.
