Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Bin Abdul Razak was appointed to the Board on 27 August 2018. He has been serving as an Independent Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee at MSM Malaysia Holdings Berhad since 7 January 2015. His extensive career encompasses academic leadership as the 5th Vice-Chancellor/President of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) from 2000 to 2011, as well as notable roles within the World Health Organisation (WHO), where he contributed to the Expert Advisory Panel on Drug Policy and Management (1995-2010) and the Scientific Committee of Tobacco Product Regulation (2004-2006).
Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli’s global recognition includes being the first Asian to receive the prestigious 2017 Gilbert Medal from Universitas 21, and he was honored with the 2017 Asia HRD Contribution to Society Award for his significant contributions to people’s development in the academic realm. He actively engages in philanthropic endeavors, serving as a member of various charity-based organizations’ Board of Trustees.
In the realm of government and education, he has played pivotal roles in initiatives such as the Performance and Delivery Unit (PADU Corp) Board of Trustees to monitor the Ministry of Education Blueprint, chairing the Independent Review Committee for the Malaysia Education Blueprint (2013-2015), and becoming a member of the Advisory Board of Higher Education Leadership Academy (AKEPT) in 2015.
Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli is the recipient of numerous honors and fellowships, including recognition by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (FASc), the World Academy of Art and Science (FWAAS), and the Malaysian Institute of Malaysia (FMIM). He is also an Honorary Lifetime member of the Asian Academy of Management and a Fellow of the World Academy of Islamic Management (FWAIM), while being awarded the 2017 Tokoh Akademik Negara (National Academic Laureate) and receiving Honorary Doctorates from various international universities.
As an accomplished author, he has contributed significantly to scholarly works and columns, with notable titles like “Fourth Industrial Revolution – The Leadership Dilemma” (2018), “Voicing Concern” (2018), and “Nurturing a Balanced Person – The Leadership Challenge” (2015, 2017). His weekly columns addressing education, health, and current events have been published in various Malaysian newspapers since 1995.
