Kuala Lumpur, 4 June 2024 – The Faculty of Law and Enforcement at the International Islamic College (IIC) successfully held a Moot Court session for its Diploma of Laws students. This event, a key component of the curriculum, provided students with a practical platform to apply their theoretical knowledge in a simulated court environment.
The session, which took place on the 4th of June 2024, was supervised by Puan Noruljannah Abdul Rahman, the esteemed Civil and Criminal Procedure lecturer at IIC. Puan Noruljannah, known for her extensive expertise and dedication to legal education, guided the students through the intricacies of both civil and criminal litigation processes.
The Moot Court session aimed to develop the students’ advocacy skills, critical thinking, and legal reasoning by having them argue hypothetical cases in front of a panel. The students took on roles as prosecution and defense attorneys, judges, and witnesses, experiencing firsthand the pressures and demands of courtroom procedures.
Throughout the session, Puan Noruljannah provided insightful feedback and constructive criticism, helping students refine their arguments and presentation skills. Her guidance was instrumental in highlighting the importance of thorough preparation, clear articulation, and the ability to think on one’s feet—key attributes for any aspiring lawyer.
Students engaged enthusiastically, showcasing their understanding of legal principles and procedures. The moot session also fostered a collaborative learning environment, encouraging students to work together, share insights, and learn from each other’s performances.
“This Moot Court session is a crucial element of our Diploma of Laws program,” said Puan Noruljannah. “It bridges the gap between theoretical study and practical application, equipping our students with the skills necessary for successful legal careers.”
The event concluded with a debriefing session, where students reflected on their experiences and received further guidance on how to improve their advocacy techniques. The successful execution of the Moot Court session underscores IIC’s commitment to providing a comprehensive and practical legal education.
