
KUALA LUMPUR, 4 Dec — Zurich Takaful Malaysia Berhad, in collaboration with Pusat Pungutan Zakat – Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (PPZ-MAIWP), today launched a dedicated Zakat Literacy Centre at the International Islamic College (IIC), Kuala Lumpur.
The centre, officially named the Zurich Takaful AZKA Corner, is located at the Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Sanusi Junid Library and is intended to serve as a centralised resource hub on zakat, waqf and Islamic finance. The initiative aims to support academic learning, research and public awareness on Islamic social finance.
Funded by Zurich Takaful under a Wakalah Scheme, the centre provides access to curated reference materials for students, academics and members of the public. The launch ceremony was attended by IIC management, representatives from PPZ-MAIWP and Zurich Takaful, as well as student leaders of the college.
IIC Chief Executive Officer, Encik Shaik Faridhudheen Anverdeen, said the establishment of the centre strengthens the integration of Islamic finance principles within academic and community engagement.
Meanwhile, Zurich Takaful Chief Executive Officer, Puan Nur Fatihah Mustafa, described the initiative as a long-term investment in education, noting that the centre is expected to encourage research, awareness and responsible zakat practices among future leaders.
The event concluded with the signing of a commemorative plaque, exchange of tokens of appreciation and a guided tour of the AZKA Corner.
